Catering For Different Dietary Requirements with Customisable Menus

There seems to be a huge amount of people with special requirements in some form or another nowadays. Yet food is such a key part of any event, that when it comes to menus, no one should ever feel excluded. At Mannarinu Caterers, we believe that individuals with different dietary requirements and food allergies should not miss out on the joys of food, which is why we cater towards them. Here are some of the common ones:

Vegetarian

Although vegetarian diets vary in what foods they include and exclude, this diet is typically associated with the exclusion of meat, poultry and fish, but includes eggs, dairy and animal by-products.

Vegan

A big part of what constitutes a vegan lifestyle is following a plant-based diet, which means consuming no meat or animal products. Vegans cut out anything containing meat, fish, eggs, and dairy.

Lactose intolerant

Lactose intolerance is a condition in which people experience digestive discomfort, abdominal pain and tiredness after consuming dairy products. A person can become lactose intolerant at any age if their small intestine stops producing enough lactase - an enzyme which breaks down lactose – a natural sugar.

Gluten intolerance & Coeliac Disease

Gluten is a mixture of two proteins present in wheat, barley and rye, which is responsible for the elastic texture of dough. Gluten intolerance is a fairly common problem, with some of its symptoms resembling those experienced by a lactose-intolerant individual.

Coeliac disease is the most severe form of gluten intolerance. It is a serious and hereditary autoimmune disorder, where the ingestion of gluten leads to damage in the small intestine. Currently, the only treatment for this disease is a lifelong adherence to a strict gluten-free diet, which means avoiding foods with wheat, barley and rye, such as bread and beer.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease in which your blood sugar levels are too high. People with diabetes should therefore stay away from unhealthy fats, liquid sugars and foods that increase their blood sugar levels.

There are plenty of delicious meals that can be prepared or modified to accommodate the above needs and diets, yet it requires more attention to detail, avoiding cross-contamination in the kitchen and providing clear labelling on menus as well as food items served at events. Luckily, in the world of dietary requirements, the hospitality industry has come on leaps and bounds.

Mannarinu Caterers: Catering for everyone’s dietary needs with customisable menus

By no means should accommodating to dietary requirements mean serving bland and boring food, it simply means making minor adjustments and replacing one ingredient with a similar alternative. Nor does it mean serving it only to the individuals with dietary restrictions; our customised bites and dishes taste so good that everyone enjoys them. Here at Mannarinu Caterers, our ethos is to ensure every single one of our customers is happy.
